Low-Cost Summer Camp 2026

available in 4 locations across the GTA.

Key Information:

The camp operates at a 2:1 child-to-clinician ratio, balancing individualized support with opportunities for group interaction. Programming is rooted in evidence-based, play-based approaches and includes structured group activities, sensory experiences, communication opportunities, and daily routines that support independence, flexibility, and social engagement.

Enrolment requires a full-week commitment, a $100 deposit is taken at the time of enrolment, with the remainder sent via Quickbooks following an intake call. As consistency is essential for both clinical planning and the child’s experience. Due to the subsidized nature of the program and staffing requirements, once confirmed and payed, all registrations are final and non-refundable.

The Embers Low-Cost Summer Camp is a community-based initiative designed to support children who are currently waiting for funding through the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). Delivered in partnership with Mount Etna Child & Family Services and the Government of Canada, the camp is offered across multiple GTA locations, providing accessible, structured summer programming for families navigating long wait times for services. Location selection is made during the booking process.

This program is made possible in part thanks to the support of the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program, which allows us to expand staffing capacity and increase access for families in need.

The camp is specifically available to children who are on the OAP waitlist and not yet receiving consistent funded support. Families who qualify may also use Special Services at Home (SSAH) to support participation. The goal is to bridge the gap by offering meaningful, developmentally appropriate experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

To ensure appropriate peer grouping, the camp is offered in two age cohorts: Kindergarten–Grade 1 and Grades 2–4. Each group is designed to reflect the developmental and social needs of the children within it, allowing for targeted programming and stronger peer connections.

A mandatory meet and greet is required prior to enrolment to assess suitability for the group setting and 2:1 ratio. This ensures that each child can be safely and effectively supported. If the camp is not deemed an appropriate fit, families may be offered a refund (if determined prior to start) or alternative recommendations, including additional supports or program options.

The Embers Low-Cost Summer Camp is designed to reduce barriers to care while maintaining high clinical standards. It provides children with opportunities to build skills, confidence, and connection, while offering families reliable and accessible summer support during a critical period of waiting.

Yearly Program Subsidy

2025-2026 Subsidy Applications are

now open!

In addition to our year-round Subsidy Applications, The Embers for Access PA Day Respite Camps are offered on every school PA Day between Toronto & Northumberland and provides children with a full-day, neuroinclusive experience designed to support all levels of participation. In partnership with our skilled community partners, the day combines music, art, cooking, STEM-based activities, and play within a structured, supportive environment. The program maintains a 1:2 staff-to-child ratio to promote safety, inclusion, and individualized support while remaining a fun, community-focused respite experience for families. As community demand and need continue to grow, we plan to expand these programs and welcome family feedback to help shape how they evolve and best support our community.
